What if i don’t want a prefab home?
Did you know that we also design homes for the traditional building process? We are better known for our prefab, modular home design and construction — it’s our core business, and something we believe in wholeheartedly. But it doesn’t work in every situation. We have clients overseas, or with building sites on islands and other remote areas, and in those instances we can’t efficiently transport modules to their location. Since those clients still value our clean-lined, modern aesthetic and commitment to designing ecologically-sound homes, and want to work with us regardless, we try to be as flexible as we can.
How does it work?
If you sign on with us to do this type of design work, you get a high-efficiency planning service for your build. We take the time to meet with you and get to know your priorities like we would for our prefab clients, and then create a custom plan for your home with those in mind. We detail the construction documents in the same way as for our other buildings, with all of the eco-friendly, and energy-conserving specifications included. When we are done, they are ready for you to hand over to the local builder of your choice.
When you work with evoDOMUS on a project of this nature you have choices as to how much we specify and provide as far as building materials go. We can do the drawings and nothing else if that’s all you need, but many people prefer to come to Cleveland to do a “fit-out” like our modular clients do. A fit-out involves choosing all (or almost all!) of the finishes for your new home in a short period of time, right here in the evoDOMUS showroom.
We have a pre-selected array of materials on-site that match our aesthetic — everything from tile to countertops to siding and decking to door hardware. You can see it all at once and short-circuit the seemingly endless stream of decision making that building a home usually entails. It’s a whirlwind of a couple of days, but people usually love it! (Partly because we treat our overnight guests to some of Cleveland’s highlights.) Then, depending on the particulars of the situation, we can procure and ship your selected items to you, or just give you a list of your materials so that you or your local builder can buy them instead. Again, we try to be as flexible as we can so that your life is made easy.
One product line that people usually like to source from us is the windows and doors. We have several manufacturers of high-quality, energy-efficient windows, and since they are such an important part of the thermal envelope of the house it’s often an obvious choice for people to buy them through us. We can ship them all over the US, and beyond if necessary.
A second choice to make is whether you want us to design, specify, and provide your kitchen cabinetry. We have a highly-experienced kitchen designer on staff here at evoDOMUS, and a selection of lines of cabinetry for almost any application. Many clients prefer that element of one-stop shopping and trust us to design a kitchen that fits into their modern home.
With any of these matters, flexibility is the key to a successful relationship. We will provide you with a custom home design, tailored to your lifestyle and other preferences, in the evoDOMUS signature style. You’ll have all of the construction documents necessary for your builder to do his job to a highly energy-efficient standard. And you can get as many or as few of your building materials from us as makes sense for you. We can even help you vet contractors and look over your bids to see who might be the better option to build your dream home if you need that kind of support
